What is a mechanical injection packer?

A typical mechanical packer has a metal or plastic body, an expandable sealing sleeve, and a head or valve connection. Tightening compresses the sleeve so it expands against the wall of the drilled hole. The seal directs material into the intended crack or void instead of back around the port.
